Cross-Pollinating the USA: The Grassroots Activist Guild (GAG) Tour

Across the nation, communities and organizations are building a movement. From organic gardening and permaculture advocates in Georgia and Oregon to civil rights activists in New York and Texas, we are all working towards a collective examination, questioning and rerouting of the social and environmental systems which are so lacking in our current society. We are allies, and we need to amp up our communication and strengthen our networks. To aid this development, GAG is building a database of activists, responsible businesses and thriving organizations around the country.

Each year, members of the Grassroots Activist Guild hit the road and explore grassroots activist groups, businesses and individuals around the North American continent. They conduct interviews and inquiries and use media creatively to illuminate their subjects' ideas and contributions, and make them available the public by posting the finished blogs, journals and video-recorded interviews on the Guild's website and YouTube channel. The GAG Tour also give presentations on effective activist groups and best practices, and conducts workshops on community organizing, sustainable living skills and DIY culture and appropriate technology.

An overall goal of the GAG Tour is to broaden awareness of the environmental and social movement taking place in locations around the nation, and establish relationships and connections among activist groups that will lead to further cooperation and mutual support. The tour appreciates and recognizes the dedicated activists who animate their organizations and manifest their visions.
